Vision Statement

As a Harvard Medical School Center for Primary Care online publication, Perspectives in Primary Care promotes health equity and the value of primary care. We fulfill this vision by highlighting recent medical research, providing guidance on topics relating to primary care, and through narrative medicine. Our publication is made up of voices from all around the world—those who are clinicians, activists, community members, and patients. We rely on their perspectives to shine light on topics that may otherwise remain unseen or misunderstood.

About Perspectives in Primary Care

This publication started early during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 as the Harvard Medical School Center for Primary Care blog. In fall of 2021, the blog was formalized into an online publication called the Primary Care Review with Dr. Rebekah Rollston as the inaugural Editor-in-Chief. The editorial team cultivated articles meant for a general audience that included but was not limited to medical and public health professionals, using storytelling to promote primary care, health equity, and community health. Under new leadership in 2023, the Primary Care Review became Perspectives in Primary Care, the new name chosen as a reflection of an ongoing commitment to publishing works that promote health equity by highlighting innovation and learning through stories told by diverse voices.
